Busy Bee Bazaar follows one whole day, from morning market to evening lanterns, and mixes up everything Early Years explorers have met: day and night, routines, clocks and money. Every question is read aloud.
What your child will learn
- Tell day from night and match routines to morning or bedtime
- Spot a clock and say which number the short hand points at
- Tell money from other things, and a coin from a note
- Say what comes first, and count a few coins
One day, many skills
In real life, time and money turn up together: we wake up in the morning, look at the clock, and pay for breakfast at the stall. Mixing the questions helps children use what they know without being told which skill is coming.
Example questions
Here are a few questions like the ones in the first quest. Can you solve them?
1. When does the rooster crow?
🐓- ☀️ day
- 🌙 night
Show answer
Answer: ☀️ day. That happens in the daytime, when it is light.
2. Which one is a coin?
- 🔘 button
- 💵 note
- 🪙 coin
Show answer
Answer: 🪙 coin. A coin is small, round and made of metal. A button is round too — but it isn’t money!
3. Which one tells us the time?
- ⏰ clock
- 🎈 balloon
- 👟 shoe
Show answer
Answer: ⏰ clock. A clock tells us the time — when to eat, play and sleep.
Tips for grown-ups
- Talk through your day together: “First we wake up, then we eat, then we go out.”
- At a shop or stall, let your child hand over a coin or a note and name which it is.
- Point out clocks wherever you go and ask where the short hand is pointing.
