    What your child will learn

    • Choose the preposition that fits the meaning
    • Use akan after feelings: sayang akan, rindu akan, takut akan
    • Use the fixed pairs antara… dengan… and dari… hingga…

    Small words with set partners

Dengan shows the tool or the companion: “menulis dengan pensel”, “pergi dengan ibu”. Oleh shows the doer in a passive sentence. Sejak marks when something began and hingga when it ends.

After a feeling word, Malay uses akan before a person or thing: “sayang akan nenek”, “takut akan ular”. And the pair is “antara… dengan…”, not “antara… dan…”.
