Two more families of adjectives. Adjectives of manner (cara) say how something is done: laju, perlahan, pantas, deras, cermat, gopoh, lincah. Adjectives of time (waktu) say when or for how long: awal, lewat, lama, baharu, segera, lampau, silam.
What your child will learn
- Tell manner adjectives from time adjectives
- Choose a precise word for how something is done
- Use time adjectives such as lampau and silam
How, and when
Manner words often follow “dengan”: “berjalan dengan perlahan”, “merawat dengan cermat”. Gopoh means hasty, cermat means careful and lincah means nimble.
Time words describe points and lengths of time: “tiba awal”, “zaman silam” (ancient times), “masa lampau” (the past), “kasut baharu” (new shoes).
