    Opposite Bridge

    Year 1 Kata Berlawan

Find the opposite of everyday words — besar and kecil, tinggi and rendah, siang and malam — and use them in sentences.

    • Ages 5–7
    • 3 quests
    • Beginner → Getting stronger → Challenge

Kata berlawan, or antonim, are opposites: besar and kecil (big and small), panas and sejuk (hot and cold), naik and turun (go up and go down). Learning words in opposite pairs doubles a child’s vocabulary with half the effort.

    What your child will learn

    • Match a word to its opposite
    • Use opposites to complete a sentence
    • Tell opposites from words that mean the same

    Pairs that pull apart

Opposites come in every word class: adjectives (tinggi – rendah), verbs (buka – tutup) and even times of day (siang – malam).

The word “tetapi” (but) often signals an opposite: “Kopi itu panas tetapi ais itu sejuk.”
